"Oh Brody." She sighed and ran her hand over her face and then through her hair, untangling it at the ends. "Please tell me your good reason for why you're ignoring my needs right this second? Why do you think you need to make Kylie happy? Is there any way I can make you understand that what's best for you is to make me happy so that Bean will be healthy and happy when he or she comes around? Why can't you see that?" She stopped trying to rock the swing and frowned. "If seeing what Kylie is like weren't so damn important to you, you and I wouldn't be fighting, I wouldn't be stressed, and I bet you'd be happier, plus I don't necessarily agree with Danian. It would nice if we were going to get married and Bean would have a mother and father, but apparently that crap only happens in fairy tales and soap operas."

Brody shook his head slowly and closed his eyes, refraining from reaching out and holding her. "I can't. I can't even work that out for myself. I just need to try, to see if things will work. I'm not trying to make things nuclear between us. And I know I can't ask you not to take things personally, because it is personal. But it's not because I don't like you. I like you a lot. I just like her too."
Biting his lip, he groaned. "I wish there was a script we could follow, something to tell me how this is all going to pan out so I can know my next step. But this isn't a fairy tale. This is fucked up, and this is real."

Liesl got off the swing and walked the short distance to the railing of her porch. "Then you don't have a good reason to ignore my needs, you're just being selfish. Maybe you should be a mormon, Brody, then you could have multiple women at the same time and they'd only harbor small jealousies toward the other wives, but would be completely open to this foolishness." She closed her eyes and rested her head on the rail. "I'm tired and I feel sick, I'm done fighting you for today, and you've completely drained me"

Brody groaned again as she moved away from him, and he felt his anger rising once more as she called him selfish. Trying to control himself, he pushed off the porch hard, and the swing moved wildly with him on it. "That's not fair Liesl and you know it. I had already started something with Kylie when you came back on the scene. You knew where to find me! It's not fair to her to just drop her because you're pregnant!"
He hadn't realised but his voice had risen several decebels as he spoke, and he fought to make himself calm down. "I'm done too. Message me when the next doctors visit is. You're not cutting me out."
Getting up from the swing, he moved towards his car and paused at the door. "You know, you talk about me taking care of your needs, but so far you've ignored mine too."

Liesl lifted her head off the rail and stared at him as he got to his car. "You don't need me for that Brody, you have Kylie." She turned and started back into the house, she went up stairs and found her phone.
To: Brody From: Liesl

Brody drove off her property with slightly less energy than he had had driving in. He was honestly trying to do the right thing by both girls, and it seemed he could only ever please one or the other.
As he reached his house, he felt his phone buzz once more. Glancing at it, he sighed and replied quickly.
To: Liesl From: Brody
Thank you. Do you need me to pick you up?

To: Brody From: Liesl
That's entirely up to you. If you think you can get me there without going off on me, then fine.

Brody screamed in frustration, it seemed even his attempt to patch thing up wasn't helping in the slightest. He punched the keys angrily.
To: Liesl From: Brody
Fuck you
He sighed and erased what he'd written and started again.
To: Liesl From: Brody
What time do I need to be at your house?

To: Liesl From: Brody
Jesus. Would you rather I lied and told you I didn't love you at all? Would that make it easier for you?
Aghast, Brody stared at the message he'd just sent. Hurriedly, he followed up that message with another.
To: Liesl From: Brody
I mean like.

Liesl stared at the first text message he sent and being the kind of girl she was she couldn't help but read into one single word. A grin spread across her face and she had to do everything in her power to stop herself from staring at it to open the second message. Her grin widened.
To:Liesl From: Brody
Sure you did.
