Brody propped himself up on his elbows, not quite ready to stand up. Watching her rub her hand over her stomach struck him as the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. Despite the fact that she clearly didn't expect an answer, he tried.
"Lots of things make me happy. The fact that we're having a baby. Spending time with you. Surprisingly, my job. Hanging out with Kylie makes me happy too. But I can't seem to separate the two of you. If I'm with Kylie, you keep popping into my head. But obviously while I'm here, Kylie's still on my mind."
Standing up, he stretched his back, resting his hands on his hips. "I don't want to leave with you unhappy with me. What can I do to make you happy before I go?"

After his little explanation, she felt silly and petty. "I'm sorry." She said. "I'm trying not to be this way, but it's just hard. I'm not unhappy with you, I'm fine, tired, annoyed at myself at my situation, but not at you." She looked him over and then looked at the ground, wishing she had could hug him like a friend and then let him go without caring if he had feelings for someone else.

Brody moved towards her, and stretched out his hand. Lifting her chin, he looked into her eyes and smiled. "I'm pretty sure none of us are impressed with our situation. But would you think I was crazy if I said Bean was the best thing that's happened to me in a very long time?"
Before he could toss up whether it was a good idea or not, he kissed her forehead softly. "I really have to go, if I'm late for work my boss is gonna yell at me for the next month. But just call me if you need anything. Even if it's just a punching bag, I'll be that."

Liesl took her chin out of his outstretched hand and avoided his eyes, though it pained her to do so, he was so attractive and it was hard to resist that smile. "I wouldn't think you're crazy." She said, trying not to look at him. "I wouldn't trade Bean for anything."
She closed her eyes as his lips pressed against her forehead and then looked into his eyes, wishing he hadn't done it, because now she just wanted to kiss him. "I'll keep that in mind, but don't count on your phone ringing off the hook." She said, punching his arm softly. "Go home, go to work and don't just call me if you need to know the time of our next appointment, it'd be nice to see you some other time too."

Brody winced theatrically as she punched him, and moved towards the door. "I think I can handle that." Holding the handle of the door, he turned back to grin at her. "You can message me if you're bored too. As long as I'm free, I'll come see you."
Whistling as he left the room, he marvelled at how much lighter he felt after spending a mere few hours with Liesl where they hadn't been screaming, she hadn't cried and they'd left each other on good terms.
As he reached his house, he frowned slightly. What the crap am I gonna do? How am I going to choose?

Liesl walked him all the way to the front door and stood in the doorway until she could no longer see the tail lights of his car. She'd enjoyed sleeping beside him and not fighting with him, but he was gone and she was left wishing he'd come back. She closed the door, locked it, and proceeded upstairs to her room, where she climbed back into her bed and tried to imagine Brody's arms around her again. She would message him, but the second she received a message that said he was busy, she knew she'd feel down about it and half convinced herself that she wouldn't message him at all unless she was absolutely certain he wasn't with Kylie or at work.
