Lizabeth had put Penelope down for a nap after they got home from the park. It took a while since they had moved to the apartment not even 2 weeks ago, but she eventually settled the little red head down to fall asleep. Lizabeth ran her fingers through her hair, walking out of the small apartment door and back into the bright sunlight. The building they had moved into wasn't big enough to call a house, but it was by itself on a nice quiet street, and that was all Lizabeth needed to fall in love with the place. She sighed, putting her hands on her hips and looking around. Glad that none of the new neighbors had come out to greet her and what not in the past few days, she felt like she was in a nice private place. She'd get to know the neighbors later, maybe even today if she felt like it, but she was thankful that they hadn't already rushed upon her. She knew her daughter didn't need the overwhelming string of new people to meet, and Lizabeth didn't much care for it either. She walked out to the edge of the road, looking around. It was a nice day, in a nice place, with hopefully nice people. I can get used to this she thought to herself with a large smile.

"Bao," Ms. Kita called to her fourth youngest son. BaoChen took off his over-ear headphones. "Yes, mother?" He asked her simply. "Kasem's getting antsy, and I've got to run errand, can you take him outside to play?" She asked him. BaoChen looked at the nine year old and made a face. "Do I have to?" Ms. Kita raised an eyebrow, "Please? Just watch him, that's all I ask of you, Bao." "Fine." BaoChen grumbled, "C'mon Kasem." He said, leading the younger boy out to the front. Kasem immediately began playing, running around the front yard as BaoChen grabbed a lawn chair. "Why can't Chai watch him?" He asked as his mother was unlocking the car. "With you, he's forced to speak English." His mother replied with smirk, "Take care of him." She added, waving off as she left. BaoChen waved as his other hand brought his headphones back over his ears. "Don't cause trouble, okay?" He told Kasem, a little too loudly.

Lizabeth closed her eyes for a second before hearing voices and someone walking out of their house. She glanced by, seeing a guy walk out with what looked like his mother and little brother. "Mama, I don wanna sweep no more." Lizabeth turned around to see Penelope standing in the doorway, rubbing her eyes. "I wanna do somvin." She walked over to her mother, holding her arms up, pouting. Lizabeth chuckled , picked up her little red haired child., and kissed her on the head. "Penny, you little ragamuffin, you're just full of energy today aren't you?" Penelope giggled and hugged her mother's neck. She spotted the people in their yard and pointed excitedly. "Who's'at?" Lizabeth glanced back as the child started bouncing in her arms and pulled her finger down. "I wanna pway wif him Mama!" She whined, pouting as her mother chuckled and shook her head. "Penny, your causing a scene, you can meet them later." She glanced back as Penelope whined again and sighed. "Ugh, you're such a tyrant." They were still standing out by the road, Lizabeth trying to keep her daughter's voice down.

"Bao Ḥeīy (elder brother), who...?" Kasem began, tugging on BaoChen's shirt to get his attention. BaoChen took off his head phones. "Hmm?" He asked his youngest brother, raising an eyebrow, then looked over to where he was pointing. "Who is it?" Kasem asked him curiously. BaoChen shrugged, "They must be new, I guess." "I want (to) play (with them)." Kasem urged, tugging his brother's shirt. BaoChen sighed, "Oh, now you feel like being social?" He asked, only to get a head tilt from Kasem. "Fine," BaoChen said as he stood up. He paused his music and shoved his hands into his pockets, walking to the other side of the street with Kasem following close behind. Awkwardly, he explained, "Uh... hi... My little brother was hoping he could play with her." He said, pointing to the little girl the young woman was holding.

Lizabeth sighed as she saw the little boy notice Penelope, only to have Penelope clap with delight. Lizabeth quickly ran a hand through her hair, nodding at the boy as he walked up. "I'm Lizabeth and this is my daughter Penelope. She was sort of whining to come meet him as well." She set the red haired girl down and Penny quickly took a walk around the new people, smiling when she came back around to Kasem. "Hi! My name Penny." She hugged the boy around the waist, not one for hand shakes. Lizabeth chuckled, looking at the older boy. "She's so rambunctious today."

BaoChen extended a hand, "Nice to meet you." He told Lizabeth simply. "I'm BaoChen, this is Kasem. He doesn't speak much English, so I hope your kid can still have fun with him..." He told her. Kasem blushed softly, "H-hi..." He replied, not bothering to introduce himself since BaoChen had done it for him.

Lizabeth nodded, taking his hand. "Sup Bao Chen." She may have had a little girl, but she still acted like a reckless teenager sometimes. Chuckling softly, she shook her head. "Nah, I'm sure Penelope would busy him too much to worry about it." Penelope looked up from hugging Kasem. "Wa's 'is name?" She asked her mother, Lizabeth just chuckling. "Kasem." She repeated for the little girl. Penelope looked up at Kasem, beaming brightly. "Hi Kasem!" She practically jumped up and down, finally letting go of him. "I wanna pway Mama!" Lizabeth shook ehr head, turning back to Bao Chen. "We just moved her, been about a week or two. Do you guys want to come inside?" She gestured towards the door. Their house was fairly clean since they hadn't brought much to unpack and Lizabeth had gotten help. She just wanted to get something in Penelope's hands to play with Kasem so that she would stop being so loud and jumpy, since the little girl was starting to run circles around the two boys again. "Please excuse Penny's hyperness...she's a little wind up doll that never seems to want to stop." Lizabeth watched her daughter, slipping her hands in her pockets.

BaoChen nodded, "sure." He replied, then watched as Kasem just watched the girl run around them. "What you doin'?" Kasem asked her, furrowing his eyebrows. "He'll get hyper in no time, don't worry." BaoChen assured her. Belatedly, he added, "Oh, you can just call me Bao."

Lizabeth nodded, chuckling as Kasem looked at Penny confused. "Sure, come on." Lizabeth headed to the door. Penny stopped in front of Kasem and shrugged. "I dunna. I wanna pway. Pway Kasem!" She grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the door. Lizabeth shook her head. "Alright then, Bao, I'm really sorry if she rips his arm off before that." She gave a little 'really-sorry' smile, laughing lightly and opening the door for Penelope to run into.

BaoChen bit his lip, holding back a laugh, letting only a few chuckles escape. "It's nice to see kids around his age move in... Less time I have to spend with him." He followed Lizabeth inside. "How old is she, anyway?" He asked curiously. Kasem smiled, finally getting that she just wanted to play, beginning to follow her.

Lizabeth shook her head, laughing lightly. "Don't let her speech and size fool you. She's only 3, but I swear she thinks she's five. In one of the places we used to live in, just last year, a woman would babysit her while I went to work. She taught Penny all kinds of things; though she couldn't help her with her 'th's, 'l's, and a few things. It drives Penny crazy because she knows she's speaking wrong." Lizabeth closed the door behind Boa and put her hands in her pockets. "She has the mind of a genius, but her body isn't catching up to her yet, and she hates it." Lizabeth smiled as she watched Penny drag Kasem to the small living room where a few of Penny's toys were. "Ball, colo's, pwaying ca'ds, and shells." Penny laid out all of her toys, one at a time, so kasem knew what she was talking about. A baseball, markers, go fish cards, and a few shells were all she had as toys, except for the sewn dolls she kept in her room from her old babysitter who taught her so much. "Wha' you wan' pway wi...wi...witf....ugh." Penny crossed her arms as she couldn't say "with" right, making her mother laugh.

BaoChen laughed as just as Lizabeth was saying, Penny had trouble with pronunciation. "Wow, only three? Kasem's nine already. Kasem ya." He called, getting his brother's attention. "You're six years older than her. Take care of her, okay?" He told the little boy. "What." Kasem replied, seeming to ask and state it at the same time. BaoChen couldn't help but laugh. "Kids will be kids, I guess." He said with a shrug. Kasem looked at the toys, picking up the ball. "Let's play (with) this." He suggested to his new friend. "Kasem is stubborn about learning English, so in terms of speech impediments, they're in the same boat, it seems..." BaoChen added.

Lizabeth nodded. "She's an odd and smart little girl for her age. I hate it because she'll probably know more than I do in the next 3 years." Lizabeth chuckled, grinning. Penny looked up when Bao called for Kasem. She almost pouted, wanting to tell him that she was big enough herself, but her mother gave her a look that told her to keep quiet. Lizabeth shrugged. "Until they hit 'Teenager', and then claim their not a kid anymore." She chuckled, picturing how Penny or even Kasem would look, rolling their eyes and thinking they know everything. Penny looked at the ball and nodded. "Ok. Woll it to me and I woll back." She ran to the other side of the small room and sat, waiting for him. She did a rolling gesture, just in case he didn't get it. She knew to make gestures to people, since her best friend/play mate didn't understand English either, being from Japan. Lizabeth nodded. "Well she's used to it, because she plays with my best friend's son, who speaks Japanese. He's only five."

"We have a Japanese kid in our family, too. But uh... he's fifteen." BaoChen replied, laughing a little at the last part. Kasem rolled the ball over to Penny, the ball bouncing a little as it made its way to the little girl. He muttered something in Thai, then plopped down on the ground with a sigh.

Lizabeth shrugged. "Akito's really bright too. He helps Penny all the time, and has even taught her a little Japanese." Lizabeth sighed. "To my dismay, she tries to use it when he's around. I'll have no idea what she's talking about when he's around. But she likes it because she doesn't seem to lisp much." She laughed lightly, watching Penelope catch the ball and beam at Kasem. The girl's face sunk slightly when he sighed and she moved over to him. "What wrong?" She had heard him mutter something, so she tried speaking in Japanese, thinking he was like Akito. "Machigatta kasemu wa nanidesu ka?(What's wrong kasem)" She'd learned 'what's wrong', from the many times Akito had mistaken her frustration with speaking for sadness and asked her.
