Gracie licked her lips lightly and smiled, shaking her head, "No, they're so perfect for the flower girls. They will be so adorable..." She nodded at his question and thought about it for a second. "Yeah, either Tally or I might have to walk up the isle alone, but we'll figure it out..." She sighed lightly and looked back over at Avery, "It doesn't really matter as long as we're getting married everything will work out perfectly."

Avery kissed her lips, but couldn't stop himself from prolonging the kiss a little longer. "It'll be perfect then, because I don't plan on marrying anyone but you." He pecked her lips once again, then with a smile he pulled back from her and stared up at the clouds. "Everything we plan in the next couple months could completely blow up in our faces and it'd still be fine as long as it was you and me." He really didn't want everything to blow up in their faces, but if the cake was lopsided, or the table cloths arrived in a different shade of green or blue than what they ordered, it'd just wouldn't matter in the long run. "This probably isn't the best time to tell you this, but um, I have to go to the base this weekend to work. Which means I'll be leaving kind of early on Friday and I won't be back until Monday morning." He frowned up at the sky. One weekend out of every month he'd had to leave since he'd returned and the first weekend it hadn't been so hard on the girls because they still didn't know him that well, but every time he'd gone since the first couple it'd been harder and harder on them. It must have felt like he was abandoning them. "It'd be so much easier on them if we lived closer to the base and I could come home each night to them, but we don't so we've got to figure something out to keep them from crying and getting the way they do when I'm gone until they're old enough to realize that daddy will be back."

Gracie smiled in the kiss and placed a hand on his cheek when he pulled away. “I love you.” She nodded, agreeing with him. It could blow up in their faces and eventually she would be okay with that, but she was sure she would probably cry out of stress at some point. She listened to the next portion of what he had to say and her light smile turned into a small frown. She nodded lightly and looked down, taking her hand from his face. She knew he had to do it, but she hated that the girls were so sad when he left. It was hard enough to keep them from crying before, but now that they were used to him being there all the time, they had such a hard time. They wouldn’t sleep some nights, especially Harper, who had become a total daddy’s girl. She nodded thinking about that, but she honestly didn’t know how possible that would be. She didn’t really want to move away from Tally, or his family. “Well, it’ll be okay. They’re fine for a weekend.” She put her smile back on and she put her hand on his cheek again and turned his head to face her, “I love you.”

Avery smiled at her and kissed her palm. "I love you too. I don't want to move, I love our house and being so close to both our families. I don't think we'd enjoy living close to the base even though it would make the one weekend out of the month easier, it's not worth it really." He kept the smile on his face. "If it gets too hard this weekend don't feel bad about calling someone to help you." He knew she knew this, but liked to remind her that she didn't always have to call Tally. "What if you took them to the zoo this weekend? Keep them super busy, let them play on that big playground at the zoo, wear them out, they'll forget I'm even gone."

Gracie nodded lightly. Maybe they would forget he was gone, but she doubted it. When Harper got tired she didn't want anything to do with Gracie, she immediately started looking for her father and when he wasn't there, you might as well forget it. She licked her lips and nodded again. She could call Monte, he helped to an extent when Harper couldn't fall asleep. Her uncle was her second favorite person and then Zane was next on the list. She had taken a liking to the men in her life and Gracie couldn't blame her. They were all wonderful to her. She nodded again, "Maybe Tally and Zane will go to the zoo with us. That sounds like a decent plan." She knew it wouldn't work the way he had in mind, but it was worth a shot.

Avery reached for another bottle and popped the top off. "Is Harper really bad when I'm gone?" He knew Devyn was initially upset when he was gone, but after a couple of hours she'd be fine, especially if Gracie were around to console her. "Maybe this time it'll be different." He crossed his fingers and laughed. "You know maybe you should spend a weekend away from the girls and pay me back for putting you through Harper's tirades every three weekends."

Gracie shrugged, watching him closely. It wasn't like she was intentionally bad, but she tried her hardest not to sleep until her father got home, which made the weekends when he wasn't there pretty sleepless. "She just doesn't like to go to sleep for me. Or eat for me. She's like a puppy. If you aren't there for a couple of days, she tries to shut down." She licked her lips. If she put her in a different room, she could leave her in her crib and let her cry it out, but she would wake Devyn and two babies bawling was in no way better than one. She laughed lightly, "Oh no. I could never do that. Besides, Devyn will sleep anytime..."

"I know." He said, though he was getting the feeling he didn't really know his kids as well as he should. "I'll just have to keep buying you little presents here and there to make up for it." He smiled, though he was sure she'd say he didn't need to. "I guess I'm flattered that I could be loved this much already. You wanna bet her first word is daddy and Devyn's is mommy?"

Gracie smiled and shrugged, "Who knows though. Maybe Harper would have a conniption in my absence too. It's weird how different they are already." She licked her lips as she looked back up at the sky. "Almost a year old." Letting out a sigh she smiled. It had all gone by so fast, it really was hard to believe. She hoped, secretly of course that they would someday be able to be together all the time, without the weekends away, although that may mean moving to a base and active shift and she wasn't sure how she felt about that at all. She laughed lightly, "Well if it helps today should last you a long while." Nodding at his last joke, she nodded, "Oh, I would put good money on that bet. Devyn is stuck on me and Harper is very stuck on you."

"I wouldn't put it past Harper to scream bloody murder if you left her for a night. Though I don't think mom and dad have too hard of a time with them, but they're seasoned veterans." He flipped the picnic basket open and pulled out a small sandwich. "You want one? It's been almost two hours since breakfast."

Gracie shrugged lightly and then laughed as he said his parents wouldn't have much trouble. "Yeah, okay. Maybe they should take Harper while you're gone then," she teased, knowing that she wouldn't split up the twins for the weekend, or live without one of them for a weekend. A night was one thing, but a weekend, different story. She smiled as he offered her a sandwich and nodded lightly, "Yeah, that sounds good," she said as she pulled a bottle out and popped it open. "I did go look at some dresses one day while I was at the mall with Tally..."

Avery was going to say that was a good idea when he realized she was joking, he wouldn't expect her to do it. He passed her the sandwich he'd pulled out for himself and then grabbed another. "Oh yeah, did you try any on or see any that you liked?" He raised his eyebrows, this was a much easier topic to talk about. "You don't really have a price limit either." He snapped his fingers. "Which reminds me, I need to go to the bank later and put you on my account, get you your own debit card, so much easier than just leaving you cash."

Gracie shook her head lightly, "Saw a few I liked. I didn't try anything on yet, because we had the girls with us and there were only two of us and Zane was on his way to pick us up and we didn't want him to have to wait." She licked her lips and shrugged lightly at him, wanting to tell him that he didn't have to do that, but they were going to be married, so in all honesty, it only made sense for them to do that. She nodded, "Alright, I'll try to remember."

"I don't need to do it today, necessarily, just before I leave this weekend. I have this feeling if I don't set it up, I'll leave and forget to get cash out for you." He shrugged knowing she'd remind him. "Maybe next weekend you and Tally and your mom can go shopping, I don't mind sitting with the girls."

Gracie smiled lightly. Of course he was being sweet. She nodded lightly at the offer and licked her lips, "Yeah, I'll see what they're doing. Maybe your mom would like to come too? I mean, she's been more of a mother to me than my mom has since the twins were born anyway." She honestly believed those words and gave a light shrug and grinned gently at the boy who laid beside her. She shook her head lightly and sighed, "I just never dreamed that my life would end up like this before I met you... It's just... So much better."
