Summer walked along the lakes edge, taking careful steps. First one foot, then the other in front. She kept her gaze on her feet, not bothering to look at her surroundings. She had been alone when she'd arrived here ealier, and she hadn't heard anyone since then, so she figured she was still alone. As she walked, she hummed her favorite song softly, Only Hope by Mandy Moore. She was glad she was alone so nobody could hear her sing. She had a pretty voice, even wanted to be a singer some day, but she was deathly shy and wasn't sure she be able to achieve that goal. Still, it was nice to dream.

Perrin wandered along, his iPod blaring Madonna's Take a Bow. Not that it was a song that needed to be played loudly, he was just used to listening to music loud, especially now that he and Ame shared a room. Almost exactly half way across the lake, he noticed a girl walking along the edge. Ame escaped me earlier today, so why not take the chance to try to make new friends? He thought to himself, jogging to catch up with her. Before he reached her, something made him slow down. What if my English isn't good enough? He thought. Sure, he went to an International School back in Paris, just like his siblings, but he was still nervous. He lingered behind the girl, not sure if he should just pretend not to notice her. He veered of her course and began moving off to the side, his hands in his pockets as he tried to seem like he was just casually walking.

Summer by now had begun singing outloud, still quiet enough that anyone not around her could hear though. She had her hands threaded together behind her and she continued her very precise walk, not looking up. She steered slightly, running directly into someone next to her. She stumbled back, shutting up immediately, a bright blush crossing her cheeks. "Ah! I...I'm sorry. I didn't s...see you there!" She said with her soft voice barely above a whisper.

Perrin took one of his earbuds out of one ear and muttered a "sorry, what?" His accent already apparent in just those two words. Turning shy, he bit his lip, then waved his hand as if saying It's alright.

Summer blushed even deeper when she realized he had earbuds in. He probably didn't hear me! She wished her blush would burn her alive as she looked away, nodding and backing away from him. She didn't know what else to say, seeing as her brain had suddenly stopped working on her.

Perrin just blinked a couple times, then furrowed his eyebrows. As she started backing away, he held out a hand as if saying "don't run away." "I-I'm sorry. I usually listen to music loud..." He explained to her apologetically. "We... ran into each other, right? Are you okay?" He asked, trying to get more confident in his English. His grammar and vocabulary was usually pretty flawless, but all he heard was his French accent that caused some of the words to sound strange.

Summer had made up in her mind to leave when he held out her hand, stopping her. She nodded, still not making eye contact with him. "I...I'm fine." She said, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Are...are you okay?"

Perrin nodded, "yeah... I'm sorry, I really should've been paying more attention..." He apologized again. He lowered his head and sighed, "And there I go apologizing again." He said with a small laugh. "I'm Perrin. My family's new to this town." He explained.

Summer didn't reply to anything he said, mainly because her brain was still a jumbled mess. "Ahh...I...I'm Summer." She said finally, when he introduced himself. "We just moved here too." her voice lowered to a soft whisper and she looked down. "We haven't been here long."

Perrin raised his eyebrows, looking interested, "Really? How long have you been here?" He asked her, interested. "Where were you before?"

"N...not long. Maybe a...a month?" Summer didn't think he's ask her questions, and she found herself staring at anything but him. "W...we lived in MABTown." She hated the fact that she stuttered whenever she was nervous, and hoped he didn't find it annoying, like most people did.

"Oh... wow... My family just got here about.. une demi-semaine? Ah, half a week ago..." He explained, all confidence shot down. Why is my English so bad? He thought to himself. Much more shyly and quietly, he added, "From Paris..."

"You know french?" Summer asked, her eyes widening. She'd always wanted to learn another language, but she never took classes or anything for it. After a second, she realized what she asked and blushed. He's from France stupid! Of course he speaks the language! She silentely chactised herself, tucking her hair behind her ear. "I've always wanted to learn a new language." She admitted quietly.

Perrin smiled and nodded, "And a little bit of Thai." He furrowed his eyebrows. "Well, I can understand a lot of Thai, it's all my mom spoke to us.. er, my siblings and me, I mean." He fumbled. At the mention of her wanting to learn another language, he grinned widely, "I'd love to teach you French." He offered, hoping it was his chance to make a friend in this new town.

Summer blushed, her eyes widening. "R...really? I'd love that." She smiled a bit, meeting him in the eye for a second before looking away again. She brushed her hair back, though it only fell in front of her face again.
