Almost forcing out a sweeter smile, Anne nodded, understanding this time what he was saying at last. "Well, that was better." she lightly chuckled out. "I would like to teach you too." she added in exaggerating two of the words that he had gotten wrong in his last sentence. "Although, in order for me to start teaching you. I'll probably need to know the name of my student. Unless you don't mind me calling out, 'hey you! Asian! get over here!'" Anne couldn't help but laugh out, hoping he didn't get too offended with calling him an Asian.

Kan laughed, muttering the words as she corrected him. "My name is Kan..." He replied, happy for the familiar conversation he could say easily. "And you?" He asked, a little awkward as he repeated what he'd learned in textbooks in school.

"Kan." she repeated, a smile shown as she spoke. "Nice name. I'm Anne." she introduced finally, holding out her hand for a shake. "It's nice to meet you, Kan. Although, I think I'll keep 'Asian' as a little nickname for you. It suits you, ya know?" she giggled.

Kan chuckled softly, shrugging at Anne's request for his nickname. "I... do not ma-ind." He said, enunciating the last word weird, but otherwise doing pretty well with the sentence. "A-Anne..." He confirmed , trying out her name on his tongue. "I do not know nickname for you..." He added with a small grin.

"Mind." she corrected him again, with a light smile. She nodded when he repeated back her own name, giggling slightly. "Nah, its cool. I mean, if you really want to give me a nickname, everyone calls me shorty." she guffawed. "And how can you not? Just look at me! Sixteen years old and barely five feet tall." she laughed, taking a quick glance at the height difference between her and Kan, chuckling lightly to herself again.

Kan smiled at her joking about her height. He hadn't noticed it before, but he was nearing six feet tall and he realized he had been looking down at her the entire time. "Okay then, you are shorty." He said simply. "ah, you are 16? I am 17. In Korea, you are my dongsaeng."
((dongsaeng literally means 'younger sibling,' but it's also used on friends who are younger. yo-dongsaeng means 'younger sister' and nam-dongsaeng means 'younger brother'))

Anne laughed along with him. Even when she was exaggerating her height just a bit, when she really was probably more around 5'1 or 5'2, it was all the same to her. Short. Petite. A midget. Not like she cared though, she still kicked the other girls asses on the Basketball court. She tilted her head then from the name he had just called her. "So...wait. What did you call me? Dongsaeng? What's that mean?" her curiosity getting the better of her.

"Ah~" Kan said at first, as if thinking of course she wouldn't know what it means. "It is little sibling. But also use for younger friend. You would call me hy- ah... oppa." He explained. "oppa." He repeated, thinking she might get too confused from his slip up.
((What Kan was about to say was "hyung," older brother if a male is saying it (male->older male). "oppa" is for a female to a male (female->older male). Since Kan never has to say "oppa," he's not used to saying it.))

Anne nodded, already getting the hang of this language he spoke around her. "So, I would call you...oppa dongsaeng." she responded, a bit hesitant at the name but eventually got there. That's when she realized what was happening, that caused her to put her hands on her hips with a light chuckle escaping as she said, "Hey wait a minute, I thought I was suppose to tutor you. Not the other way around."

Kan laughed, "No, no, just oppa. dongsaeng younger. I call you dongsaeng." He paused as she put her hands on her hips and mentioned she was supposed to be teaching him. "Well... I thought (it should be) fair..." He explained. "My English is not good. (If) You (would) teach me, I (would) be very happy."

Anne raised her eyebrows with a soft sigh escaping her lips. "Well I sure am glad I'm not taking any foreign language classes." she chuckled, "'Cause I would without a doubt, fail." she laughed a bit more, shaking her head lightly at his next sentence he pointed to her. "Yes. And I think we have a long way to go..." she sighed, but with a light smile. "We'll start slow, though. I wouldn't want to confuse you anymore than I already have."

Kan blinked a couple times. "I'm not confuse... At least I don't think so...." He said, tilting his head to the side.

Anne gave a light chuckle. "Really? 'Cause you sure sound like you're confused. And by the way, tilting your head like that doesn't help to get less confused." she laughed, obviously just teasing him, but that's what she did. "It's fine though. Hearing from one of my siblings, English is one of the harder languages to learn when you've only known one language your entire life. It's challenging, but you'll get through it." she grinned, hoping that made him feel a little more confident than before.

"ah... yes..." Kan replied, seemingly a little defeated. "Well... my mother speak much Japanese... but I do not know..." He admitted.

Anne nodded, "Oh, that's cool. I don't really know Japanese either. I know a little bit, but not enough to speak in complete sentences." she told him, laughing at herself some. "So....you go to the high school around here?" she asked, trying to keep up a decent conversation but also trying to have Kan continue practicing his English.
