Gracie wiped her mouth and pulled her face away from the ring of the toilet bowl, letting out a sigh and swallowing before leaning her head against the shower's moveable glass wall. She felt terrible and she wasn't sure that this was supposed to be happening yet. She hadn't really checked the bad things online, but she thought that morning sickness was normal at this point. What wasn't normal, she thought, was that her stomach was already growing a bit. She didn't think that was supposed to happen until she was at least four months along, and she was only twelve weeks pregnant, as told by a doctor. She let out a sigh and licked her lips before standing and pulling her shirt up to her breast line. She looked at herself from the side and shook her head, sure enough, she was growing and she was just barely three months along.
She ran a hand over her stomach and looked at her phone on the counter, deciding that she needed to voice her concerns with someone, even if it was Avery. If they were stupid concerns, then he could make her feel better, and if they weren't so stupid, well, maybe he could help her make sense of this stuff. She picked it up and dialed the phone, holding it to her ear before she felt the pressure in her throat and her face was once again in the toilet bowl, the phone still ringing in her hand.

Avery fished in his pocket for his cell phone. He was busy with a research project for his science class that he'd put off in order to do his own personal research for him, Gracie, and the baby. He glanced at the screen before answering and with one click he wad back to the real-estate page he'd bookmarked. "Hey babe, was just thinking about you..." He made a face as he heard retching sounds coming through the phone. "Gracie?" He was concerned to the point of panic, he'd been too busy thinking about the housing market and his procrastinated mitosis report to even bother about thinking about what Gracie would be going through. He'd heard about morning sickness but for some reason it felt odd that she would be experiencing it so soon and so violently. He wasn't of memorable mind when his mom had been pregnant with Cadence and the topic never came up. "Hey?" He wasn't sure if she could even hear him. "Gracie if you can hear me I'll be over in a minute."
He grabbed his car keys and a jacket before starting downstairs. In his hurry he ran right into his mom. "Finish that report?" She asked. "Not yet. Working on it though." He rushed. "Going to see Gracie?" Avery thought about lying and then nodded. "Yeah she's sick." Leah nodded, Avery tried to move around her but she obviously wanted to chat. "I only got morning sickness with you and Monte." She nodded in memory. "I had a bucket next to the bed to help get me to the bathroom and if I went anywhere in the car I had to have my bucket with me." She kissed his cheek and let him pass. "Tell her I hope it passes quickly for her."
Avery practically sped down every street in town before pulling in front of Gracie's apartment. He knocked hurriedly and prayed her mom, if home, wouldn't give him a hard time. Maybe Tally would be there to open the door or if they had any luck at all, Gracie would open the door and be alright.

Gracie put the phone back up to her ear just in time to hear him speak and shook her head, "You don't need to..." she started, but he had already hung up and she knew it was pointless to argue with that. She rested her elbow on the toilet seat and her head on her hand as she massaged her temple slowly. She almost fell asleep at one point, but she heard the knock on the door and being the only one home, she had to force herself to get up and answer it. She opened the door and smiled weakly at him. "Hey, you didn't have to come over, I just got sick before you answered." She moved out of the way so he could come in and blinked lazily. She had nearly just woken up and she was already exhausted again. She shook her head lightly, and looked back up at her boyfriend. "Thank you for coming over, Ave."

Avery walked in and put his arms around his girlfriend. "I was worried." He glanced down between them, something was different, oh, wow, yeah something was different. "Isn't it too soon for you to show?" He let his fingers run down the circumference of her small protruding belly. "Gracie?"

Gracie smiled and let her arms wrap around him as he hugged her close, making her feel a little bit better, but she was still queasy. She licked her lips and nodded at his question. "That's why I called you. I thought so too. They said I wouldn't start showing until the end of the fourth month, but I'm twelve weeks and I'm showing already..." She reached down and lifted her shirt up as if to prove it even more than just her statement already had.

Avery touched her stomach when she lifted the shirt and shook his head. "Should we go back to the doctor then?" He asked. "I mean, you haven't been eating any differently have you?" He couldn't imagine any other explanation for it. "Is it hard to get in to see the doctor?"

Gracie shrugged at his first question and then shook her head at the second, "No, I mean, I cut out some of the sweets, just to eat healthier, for the baby's sake, but I can't imagine that that would make me bloat up or anything..." She shrugged and then felt another wave of nauseousness pass over her and held up a finger before she ran to the bathroom to plant her head into the toilet for the third time that morning. She took a piece of toilet paper and wiped her mouth, tossing it in the toilet before she flushed it, sitting down on the floor to relax a little once again.

Avery frowned at her explanation, if anything, cutting sweets would reduce the weight gain, he was about to ask if she was taking in a lot of salt, because that would make you bloated, but she'd put up that finger and disappeared before he could even open his mouth. He followed her into the bathroom and held her ponytail, though it wasn't really falling into her face. Watching her made him remember his painful experience with the toilet bowl and how he'd nearly messed everything up between him and Gracie. He managed to squeeze in next to her and held her against him, stroking her hair and face. "I'll take you to the doctor, just in case, I mean I've heard of bad morning sickness, but maybe the doctor can give you something to help with it."

Gracie leaned against him, grateful for the new place to lay instead of the wall. She smiled, "I like you, you're comfy," she said softly, closing her eyes as his hand ran over her hair. She listened to him and nodded, "Yeah, we might want to get like... plastic baggies and double them up or something and then put those in a walmart sack. Just in case I get sick in the car... I've not really had much luck with that lately..."

Avery nodded. "Where do you keep the plastic bags, I'll go set it up and get the car ready." He pulled on the sleeve of her shirt. "Are you comfortable in this? Or do you want to change?" He was already starting to get up, he'd grab her a change of clothes if she needed them and then see to anything else that needed to be done before getting her to the car. "You have the doctor's number, I'll call and make sure they can see you otherwise I'm going to take you to the hospital, I think they always have an OBGYN on call, or they should..." He was rambling.

Gracie licked her lips and thought for a second. "We have like the gallon ones under the sink. That should be fine..." she said, thinking aloud, although telling him where they were at the same time. She licked her lips and shook her head, she was in her pajamas, but it was a t-shirt and sweatpants, so she didn't mind going out in them. "No, babe, this is fine. I can find the number... Its in my phone..." She stood up from her spot on the floor and went to the sink where she'd left her phone lay after hanging up. She searched through it and called the doctor to see if they had any available time, which they did, but they'd have to get there pretty soon to fill it up at ten.

He went to grab the plastic bags as Gracie called the doctor and when he returned he gave her a hug, feeling bad for doing this to her. "Any available time slots?" He asked, crossing his fingers in hopes that they did. Ten minutes would be no time at all, he could get them there in five, but would drive safer and get them there in eight instead.

Gracie nodded as he returned and hugged her, "Yeah, they've got one at ten, so we've got about fifteen minutes to get there," she explained, scratching the back of her head. She still looked quite dreadful if you compared her to the way she normally looked, but she didn't care at this moment. She was quite tired and ready for this to be over.

Avery checked his watch, even though she said they had fifteen minutes. "Plenty of time then." He said, letting her go and opening the bags he'd found and putting them inside one another. "I'm going to get the car started and warm, shouldn't take long." He felt awful for leaving her and wished he hadn't once he got out to his car, he turned it on, blasted the heater and went back up to her. "All set." He took her hand, wanting it all to be over so she wouldn't be suffering any longer.

Gracie gave him a smile and then nodded as he left, waiting right inside the door and putting her coat on while she waited. She'd been pretty cold for a few days, she guessed it had to do with the swinging pregnancy hormones that were stirring around. She smiled when he came back and took his hand, keeping her bags in her other hand, just in case she needed it soon, although once they got outside, she could find a bush or something, which would save the bag for when she really needed it in the car.
