Gracie shrugged at his question, loving that his arm was around her again, where she felt like it belonged. "I'll be fine 'til later tonight and I doubt it'll be ready when we get there anyway, so why don't we go to your house first. I mean, unless you'd rather get the prescription now..." She shrugged. "I mean, you're driving so its your call."
Avery was torn, he knew she was right, it wouldn't be ready until later, but sitting and waiting for it to be done might be worth it if it meant preventing her being ill. He looked down at her and trusted her instinct. "Well go to my house first, but if you start feeling sick, I'm going to get your prescription immediately, even if it means leaving you with my mother." He kissed her and then lead her out to the car, he might still win if she couldn't even get to the house without upchucking.
Gracie smiled lightly and nodded, "Alright, I think I'll take the chance. I think maybe if we have something to talk about besides me we'll be fine?" she asked. She knew that he didn't care what his mother thought, Avery would love her anyway, but Gracie cared what his mother thought of her, and she was trying really hard to get her to like her. She wanted to have another ally just to help her out a little when it came to the babies if neither her mother or Tally could be there.
Avery smiled warmly at her and nodded. "I'm sure you'll be fine, it's me being left with your mother that scares me." He opened her car door and then climbed in himself. "I have a funny feeling no matter what conversation we strike up, she'll somehow manage to bring it back to me and how god-awful I am." He gave her a look to suggest that he was right and then started the car.
Gracie smiled and nodded at him, "Yeah, well, probably. I think your mom has a better hold on her manners than my mom does," she said with a light shrug. She got in the car and buckled her seatbelt. "I don't know that she'll automatically go to how awful you are, but it may not take her very long..." She licked her lips and looked out the window.
He drove without much conversation to his house, he didn't want her to risk being sick in the car. He pulled into the driveway, happy that she was able to get from the doctor's office to his house without incident. "You still feeling alright?" He asked, getting out and coming around to help her out of the car. He knew she didn't need a lot of help walking right now, but he wanted to show his support and kept his arm around her until they got to his door. He opened the door and held the door open for her. "Mom?" He called into the house. "In the kitchen..."
Gracie smiled at his question and nodded, unbuckling her seatbelt and getting out of the car, sonogram pictures in hand. She walked with him to the house and followed in after him, smiling quite stupidly as he hollered into the house for his mother, but she got a bit nervous when she heard his mother call back and looked up at him, hoping he'd lead the way, because she wouldn't be able to move by herself, out of nerves if nothing else.
Avery closed the door behind Gracie and started into the kitchen. "We went to the doctor..." He began as he reached the kitchen. He sat down on one of the stools and pulled the other one out so Gracie could sit. "They did a sonogram would you like to see?" He asked, winking at Gracie. His mom turned and her excitement was quite evident on her features. "I suppose so." She said evenly. "You feeling better now Gracie?" She asked as she waited for the pictures to appear.
Gracie grinned as they walked into the kitchen and sat on the stool Avery produced for her. She smiled at his mother and pulled the pictures out of their envelope searching through them for the one that was clearly labeled with arrows that said 'Baby 1' and 'Baby 2' pointing toward both heads. She handed her the picture when she answered in the affirmative and nodded, "Yeah, I'm feeling alright right now. It'll come back later, but they sent a prescription to the pharmacy."
Leah took the picture from Gracie, but waited until she'd answered her question before looking down at the sonogram picture with the clearly labeled baby heads. She glanced up at her son and then at Gracie and shook her head. She was thrilled, but she should have known that the two identical twins would produce another set. She couldn't think of anything to say so she walked around the counter, set the picture in front of Gracie and put one arm around the girl and the other around her son. "We're going to have our hands full." She ran her hand through her son's hair and then turned to Gracie. "If you need anything you let me know."
As Leah's arm came around her, Gracelyn almost flinched, purely out of lack of an idea what to do in this situation. She smiled though as she felt a gentle touch on her shoulder and the words she spoke to her made her happier than she thought something like that would. It wasn't what she said, really, more the fact that she said it to Gracie. She let her grin show on her face and she nodded, the kind words simply added to her excitement. "Thank you," she finally said before she licked her lips and looked up at the woman who would eventually be her mother-in-law.
Leah removed her arm from Gracie and patted her shoulder before going back to the other side. "You should have your father make copies of those pictures for you..." Avery found Gracie's hand and squeezed. "You want a copy mom?" He asked, she made a motion with her head and body and though she was looking in a different direction he knew she did. "I will." He turned to Gracie. "It'll take my dad three seconds, swear. You still feeling alright, or would you like to go home?"
Gracie looked over at Avery as he squeezed her hand, still smiling. She felt like her heart had lifted from the plummet that it had been taking that morning or even when they first found out about the twins. The girl smiled at her boyfriend and nodded, "Yeah, Ave, I'm still fine, I promise you I'll tell you when I start to feel sick, okay?" she asked, starting to get a little bit agitated by his constant asking, but not letting it show in her voice. She knew that he meant it only to help her and protect her, but her hormones were getting the better of her and now she was a little aggravated with him.
Avery smirked. "Oh, I'm getting on your nerves now, huh?" He gave her a hug. "Alright so I'll take these to my dad and then if you want we can go watch a movie." He slid the chair back and got up. "I'm going to do my best to stop annoying you."
Gracie laughed softly, she didn't mean for it to show to him that she was annoyed, but she guessed she wasn't very good at hiding it. She didn't say anything, though and nodded, "Sounds good," she said lightly and nodded again at his next comment, "Alright, babe. I'm sorry that I'm easily annoyed..." She got up as well and glanced to Avery's mom, "Is it alright if I get a glass of water, Mrs. Mondego?" she asked, heading for the cabinet that housed the glasses.
