Leah motioned with her hand toward the cabinet Gracie was already headed toward. "Sure thing Gracie." She continued chopping. Avery waited for Gracie to get her glass of water, not wanting to leave her alone with his mom, even though he'd said before that he would if she was feeling sick and had to go get her medicine. He really hadn't know she was annoyed with him, he just figured he was being annoying.

Gracie smiled at her, thinking Avery would go get the pictures made, she didn't feel like it was bad to be alone with her, not anymore anyway, that small phrase had done it, she guessed. After she got the water and he was still standing there she guessed he wanted her to go with him. She smiled and walked over to him, "Thank you," she said again to Leah, although she was thanking her for much more than a glass of water. She sighed softly and glanced over at Avery with a smile, taking a sip of water.

Avery led the way to his dad's dark room, knocked and stood off to the side waiting. The light above the door went out and the door opened. "Hey." Guy said, opening the door to let them come in. "It's not often I get visitors to my workshop." He winked. It was true the only Mondego child who usually ventured into the dark room was Lexington and he was showing zero sign of returning. "I have a couple pictures I need copies of. I figured you'd be the best to replicate them." He held them out to his dad and waited for a response.
"Twins huh?" He replied, looking up from the photo clearly marked baby 1 and baby 2. "Can't say I'm too surprised." He winked and walked to his scanner. "I don't have negatives so I won't be able to go through the entire immersion process, but I'm assuming a copy on high gloss paper will suffice?" He turned and raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, that'll work." He glanced at Gracie. "You want to go inside the actual darkroom, dad took pictures of Mount Bulusan Erupting over in the Philippines. He got lucky with that one."

Gracie followed her boyfriend and smiled as his father opened the door. "Hey, Mr. Mondego," she said with a light smile as they stepped into the room he was working in. She smiled and nodded as he asked about twins. She supposed she wasn't all that surprised either, although she was surprised as well, she was both at the same time. She should have guessed it, though, it was obvious. She smiled not really sure what he meant by the immersion process, but nodding anyway. She looked at Avery as he asked if she wanted to go into the dark room and then she looked at Guy and then back to Avery, a shocked look on her face, "Am I allowed to do that? I don't want to mess anything up..."

Guy laughed. "You can't mess anything up, as long as you're not carrying a flashlight or any other device that will produce unsafe light." He pointed at a box right outside the dark room. "If you are carrying any such items on your person at this time, please place them in the box and then you may proceed." He winked again and set the first of the pictures on the scanner. "Avery, you can show her the room, quite a few of those pictures are in the final stages so she'll be able to see the images." Avery tossed his cell phone into the little box and stepped into the little roundabout door to wait for Gracie to do the same.

Gracie smiled at him and nodded at his instructions. She followed in suit as Avery put his phone in the box, she set hers in as well and then followed him through the small roundabout door. She was really excited about this for some reason, although she wasn't exactly sure what she was so excited about. She glanced at Avery who seemed like this was a normal day, which to him it probably was. She, on the other hand, felt like she was finally being accepted, although Guy had always been nice to her.

Once Gracie was inside the little roundabout with him, he turned it, cutting out the lights completely until they entered into the amber lit room. His dad had several photo's strung up on to dry, but he also had several still in the photo liquid, he wasn't exactly sure of the technical terms. "What do you think?" He asked, pulling on a picture his dad had taken of a newborn. Avery loved how talented his dad was at taking pictures, he could photograph people and places and still make the picture look spectacular. "Maybe dad will help take pictures of our babies for you to send to me." He grinned, kissing her temple, then releasing her so she could look around.

Gracie kept her eyes wide open as they stepped into the dimly lit room. She looked at everything, it was quite intriguing to her, she'd never seen the process first hand before and it seemed complicated, but she wanted to know more. She looked at the picture of the baby that Avery showed her, nodding Arbus suggestion. "I bet he'd love to photograph his grandchildren." She stepped to a side of the room, looking at the images still in the liquid and saw the eruption shots that Avery had mentioned. She looked at them all and then glanced at her boyfriend, "Do you know how it works?" she asked. She wanted to know more, this was amazing. She looked at even more of the keen eye that each of the pictures gave proof of.

Avery nodded, he thought so too. "You might get sick of him." He laughed. "You won't have to worry about not getting any sleep, you'll end up worrying about actually getting to see your own children." He joined her by the liquid trays and looked at the shots of the eruption. "Nope, Lexington could tell you in full detail, but I barely know how to snap a picture with one of my dad's cameras, developing them is a new foreign language. I think he takes the negatives, views them, decides which one's he wants to enlarge and develop, something else might happen, he puts them in this liquid and then hangs them up to dry." He shrugged and shook his head. "I doubt that's how it actually works though, so don't quote me."
Sorry, I have no idea how this process really works, I could probably look it up and have Guy explain it in a later post.

haha nah it was just a dumb Gracie question don't worry about it.
Gracie smiled at him and shook her head lightly, "No, I don't think so. I like your dad, and I don't have one of my own anymore so he'll have to be the double grandpa." She leaned her head on Avery's shoulder as she continued to look at the pictures. "Yeah, I'm sure I won't be able to let them out of my sight. I'll probably be a crazy protective mom." She shook her head lightly and then looked up at her boyfriend. "I just can't believe everyone's being so helpful. I love it." She nodded and shrugged, "Good enough for me," she said with a giggle.

Avery ran his fingers through her hair as her head landed on his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll be a perfect mom." He gently tugged on her curl and turned back toward the roundabout. "I'm sure my dad's done now." He liked that his mom had turned around so soon, it would make leaving Gracie and his unborn, or maybe newborn babies easier.

Gracie smiled and nodded, walking with him. She wished that she could know when the babies would be born so she wouldn't have to worry about whether or not he could be with her during the birth. She moved her face to his neck and gave him a soft peck. She took a sip of the glass of water that she was still holding on to. "So, I think we need to talk about names... At least a little. I think if they're girls one of them should be named after Cadence. At least a middle name for one. And the same for Martin if they're boys..."

Avery picked his phone out of the box, stuffed it in his pocket and gave Gracie hers. "If that's what you'd like to do, I'm fine with that." He walked over to his dad and collected the copies and originals. "Thanks dad." Guy nodded and Avery led Gracie out into the hall and down to his room. "I'm fine with naming our babies after our siblings, we could even do a variance on the names and use both of them, Cadence could very easily become a Caden."

Gracie smiled and took her phone from his hand, thanking him lightly. She smiled at his dad as they got the pictures and continued to walk with him. She nodded at his thought about the names. "Yeah, you're right. Then if they're boys we could name them after both of them. Maybe we can use Marti or Marni if they're girls, for Martin's namesake?" She shrugged, she liked the idea a lot, that way their siblings would always have a place in their kids' lives. She moved to sit down on the bed, kind of getting tired of walking.

Avery nodded. "Exactly, nice twist on Martin's name." He smiled and sat down beside her. "But would you want to leave that as a middle name?" He put his hand on her leg. "How about we decide on names that we like and then we'll incorporate Cadence and Martin into it. So boys." He grinned.
