Avery pulled into the driveway of his and Gracie's brand new home, he turned around when the car was in park and smiled at the three girls in the backseat. "Well Gracie girl, welcome home." He chuckled, it hadn't been more than 48 hours between when he'd first brought Gracie to the home and then left for the hospital for the delivery of their twin girls, Devyn and Harper, who were wide awake in the backseat on either side of their beautiful mother.
Avery smiled at the two girls and got out of the car and opened the door to the back seat, he unhooked the baby carrier and lifted Harper out of the car. "Would you like me to come back and grab Devyn?" He asked.

Gracie smiled at Avery. "I'm glad we got to go home before you had to leave." She sighed softly and looked down at the little girls smiling. She shook her head as he got Harper out. "No I can get her," she said lightly. She was still quite weak and a little sore from the birth but she thought she could carry the baby seat. She wanted to get the baby pouch that she'd gotten at her baby shower. "Do you know if you brought the baby pouches over to the house or were they at mom's apartment?"

Avery nodded as he shut the car door and walked around to the other side to help Gracie with Devyn. "I think they were in that box I brought yesterday. If not we'll get them before I leave for basic and if not, then just ask Monte and he'll do whatever you need him too." He smiled. "I'm pretty sure they're in the house though."

"Alright, thanks," she said lightly, stepping into the house with the carseat. "I just think that would be easier than lugging two carseats in and out. When it's just me anyway." She set the carrier down with Devyn inside in the living room and bent down to unbuckle her. "Hey pretty girl, aren't you glad to be home with your daddy for a few days?" she asked with a grin and then made a silly face at the little girl who just looked up at her blankly. "Yeah, mommy's silly isn't she? I'm sorry, baby. Let's get you out of here."

"That will definitely be a lot easier for you and keeping the car seats in the back of the car will be a lot easier on you anyway." He set Harper's car seat on the floor and picked Harper out of the seat. "Harper darling, ask your mommy if there is anything daddy can do to make things easier on her." He took a seat on the couch and turned Harper so she was sitting on his leg, facing Gracie and Devyn. "Mommy..." He dialed his voice higher. "What can daddy do?" He laughed. "I'm not good at baby accents."

Gracie smiled lightly, letting out a soft giggle with his high voice. She sat down next to him with Devyn cradled in her arms. "Harper, Daddy has done quite enough to help your mommy. You tell him that all he has to do is enjoy the time we have right now." She looked up at Avery. "Did you hear that, Daddy?" She sat back up and kissed her boyfriend lightly. "I'm fine. You need to relax a little bit, okay? Because Lord knows you aren't going to have time to relax at Basic." She let one hand run over his cheek, "Look at our family, babe," she said with a grin.

Avery turned Harper so she was cradled in his arms and leaned back into the couch, turning his eyes to the little girl in Gracie's arm. "I won't have time to rest while I'm at basic and neither will you." He smiled and turned his eyes back to Harper. "I just want to make sure I do the stuff around here that I can, like hooking up the car seats in the back of the car, locating that baby sling you were talking about before and making sure it's at least in a convenient place for you when you have to juggle these two cuties for the first time without me." He made a pouty face when he looked up at Gracie. "But if you're sure there's nothing, I'm going to soak up this little girl." He leaned his head forward and kissed her forehead. "Are you craving anything for dinner?"

Gracie smiled lightly and shook her head softly. "No, babe, we've still got a couple days, and we just got here. Why don't you just chill out today and we'll start worrying about locating and buckling and juggling tomorrow." She looked down at the baby in her arms and smiled. "Because these precious girls deserve all the attention they can get right now." She smiled at the baby and moved her hand to stroke the soft hair on top of her head. She shook her head lightly. "Not anything in particular... Why don't we just order pizza or something?"

"Pizza right." He cradled Harper a little differently and leaned into his girlfriend. "Let me know if you want a break." He couldn't help feeling like he needed to help her in some way, just sitting idle was driving him insane. "Sorry." He said, realizing what he was doing. "You know you're beautiful right?" He tilted his head up to look at her and smiled. "When should we feed them?" He asked.

Gracie smiled, "Ave, mommies don't get breaks," she said lightly, "but thank you for the offer." She sighed lightly and looked at the baby he had cradled in his arms. She smiled at the baby and then looked back up at Avery. "So how are you feeling about everything?" she asked, hoping it wouldn't make him upset, but she just wanted to know what was going through his head. She smiled at his compliment and then thought about his question. "Well we fed them right before they were releasing us and that was two hours ago. So in another hour I think."

Avery bit his bottom lip and shrugged a shoulder. "Honestly everything feels like it's in fast forward and the last five days I have before I leave my beauties is going to go by before I have a second to do anything." He offered a small smile and ran a finger gently over Harper's head. "I really want more time with them, with you too." He glanced up as a tear streamed down his cheek a small smile following. "I'm happy though, I got to witness the births and hold them and that's more than I hoped for, you know." His eyes danced between the two girls. "I want to do something, change a diaper or feed them, I don't want to sleep tonight or do anything that would keep me from them and that's impossible." Impossible because Monte was being a stubborn idiot and Avery felt obligated to straighten him out before he left as well as care for Gracie and the twins.

Gracie nodded, she understood what he meant. She would be the same way if their roles were reversed, but that enlisting pay was what bought their house. That and the money he had saved. She reached up and wiped his tear from his cheek. "I know, honey. I wish you had longer too, but we knew it was coming. I'm just glad I didn't have to go through the labor thing alone..." She sighed lightly and curled her legs up underneath herself. "Well, we could sleep in the nursery. Just for to ight. Or all week..." She gave him a weak smile and then a fuller one. "Here, you hold Devyn too and I'll order a pizza."

Avery graciously took Devyn from Gracie and admired the two girls in his arms. "I can't believe they came from us." He smiled. "As awesome as sleeping in the nursery with them sounds, we shouldn't." He knew it was too soon for them to form bad habits, but it wasn't logical, at least not for him. He'd be up before the sun to continue his workout as well as anytime they needed him in the night and it would simply be easier for him to be in his own bed.

Gracie smiled lightly at him and looked down at the girls. She nodded, "I know. Hard to believe we created something so beautiful, huh?" She shook her head lightly and leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "I agree. I think the monitor will be enough. I just thought it might make you feel like you were doing extra." She stood up and walked to the end table where the cordless land-line was. "What kind of pizza do you want? Just cheese or are you feeling pepperoni today? Or something different? Something adventurous?"

Avery didn't take his eyes off the two girls he'd had a hand in creating. "I think you're very thoughtful and I love you for that." He glanced up slightly and then back down at the girls who were slowly starting to fall asleep. "Adventurous sounds good." He grinned. "Or you know we could go halvesies and just order half pepperoni and half adventurous just to be safe if the adventurous stuff doesn't pan out."
