Tally nodded, glad to have the thought relayed. She watched Harper as she looked up at Tally in utter amazement and smiled again. She nodded at his car arrangement, "Yeah that's fine. Zane and I will just show you the way, although you ought to know where the diner is anyway," she said lightly. They were just going to Palmer's, that was the plan anyway. She licked her lips smiling down at the baby in her arms. "Are you going to help Monte, babe?" she asked, looking up at Zane. "Or would you rather hold this little ball of cute?"

Monte shrugged. "I know where Palmer's is, I just didn't know that's where you were going, Gracie didn't specify." He excused himself from the room, not bothering to see if Zane was going to come help him or not. He didn't really want Zane's help, he read people way too easily and would easily pick up on his distress over Gracie, Monte had seen the raised eyebrows. He went to Avery's car in the garage and opened the back seat on the passenger side. He made quick work of uninstalling the first car seat and then slowed down as he unhooked the other, he didn't want to rush, dinner was going to be hard enough. As he brought both car seats to his car and started to set them up he began to think maybe he should have had Zane come help him, he'd pick up on the uneasiness and maybe help him get through the night, kick him under the table when he was staring too long at Gracie.
Zane picked up on Monte's mood and guessed he wanted to set everything up on his own and with a big smile on his face he approached his girlfriend and what he hoped would one day be his niece. "I'd much rather be around this bundle of cuteness than with that ugly mo'fo..." He joked as he took the baby from Tally. "They are going to have the whole town wrapped around their tiny little fingers before long." He smiled, as the baby wrapped her entire hand around his finger. It brought back a memory of Maze, he wasn't around her when she was this small, but it felt similar and he missed her. Gage sometimes brought those memories back for him too, but not as strong as Harper and Devyn would. "I want a little girl." He said softly, looking down into Harper's eyes.

Tally nodded at Monte’s words, he wasn’t quite sure what his problem was, but in all honesty, she didn’t care that much. They were practically family, but she still wasn’t so sure about Monte. He just seemed a bit off to her. She wouldn’t say anything, though; she’d just roll with the punches and shake things off. She smiled at Zane when he started talking and she nodded, not necessarily agreeing, but understanding why he would choose the babies over the boy. He agreed with him on one thing though, they would certainly have the whole town around their fingers, easily. They were gorgeous girls and if they were half as kind as Gracie and half as courteous as Avery, they’d be the best set of twins this town had ever seen. She watched him as he looked at the little girl and smiled. He looked good. He looked good all the time, but this seemed special, for some reason. She raised a brow at him with his last statement, though. She wouldn’t have expected him to say that. “You do?” she asked softly, not trying to sound surprised, but she was, to be honest.

Zane took his eyes off the little girl in his arms and smiled at his girlfriend. "One day, not now." He wanted that to be clear, he had enough going on with school and Avery's girls, though technically they weren't his responsibility, but he wanted to help. "I know I don't really have much of choice when it does happen, but I'd prefer a girl." He shrugged. "You have a preference?" Monte finished up in the garage and returned to the house. "Gracie come down yet?" He asked.

A wave of relief washed over her when he said not now. She had been panicking a little. "Alright, that makes sense." She shrugged lightly with his question, though. "It doesn't really matter to me. I haven't really thought about it too much, to be honest. Babies were always Gracie's thing. I mean, I would love to have kids eventually, I just haven't put much thought into it."
As Monte walked in Gracie was headed down the stairs in a new outfit. One that was appropriate to wear in public instead of one of Avery's t-shirts. "Right here," she answered. She looked at her sister and smiled, "Hey Tally, thank you so much for taking is out. I've been going bit stir crazy..."

Zane nodded at Tally's question and shook his head at Monte's. "Good to know..." He finally said to Tally offhand. He wasn't planning on having any kids until much later and if she was happy with that, then things would go quite smoothly for the both of them. He glanced at Gracie as she started down the stairs, but his eyes were drawn back to Monte. Monte's mouth fell open as his eyes fell on Gracie. It would have been a good moment to get a kick to the shin's, but he'd been thoughtless and let Zane get the impression that he didn't want any help earlier. Zane picked up on it, he recognized the look, it wasn't that different from the look Avery got when Gracie walked into a room or onto the field or anywhere. He positioned the infant in his arm and used the other to push Monte back through the door he'd come. "That's low..." Zane whispered hoarsely. "Real fucking low. Your brother's girl and you're drooling over her while he's away." He shook his head and shoved his finger in Monte's face. "You fuck them up and I'll make you wish you left the first time the thought entered your brain." He was furious with Monte, his ears turned a bright shade of red and he returned back to the living room. "Sorry." He mumbled, upon entering, hoping the anger he'd been experiencing with Monte wouldn't show through to the girls. The fewer people who knew, the better. "Are we ready to go?" He asked, though he wasn't sure he wanted Gracie riding alone with Monte.

Gracie wasn't really paying attention to the boys as she walked down because Tally was holding the baby and they were both fawning over her a little. When Zane and Monte came back she smiled and gave a nod, "Yeah, I'm ready. I think we just have to buckle the girls in." She started toward the door and flashed a smile, "Devyn (I think that's who he has?) looks good in your arms, Zane," she teased him, although he did look comfortable holding the little girl. Tally started walking out behind her sister and they started to buckle Harper into the seat.

Zane smiled. "Thanks Gracie." He followed behind Gracie, putting as much space between her and Monte as he could. He put Devyn in her car seat and buckled her in, making sure she was secure, before closing the door and shooting Monte a warning look. Monte got into the driver's seat, without a word to anyone and started the engine. Zane was going to help him, like he'd wanted, but it wasn't going to be friendly, like he'd thought it would be. He looked in the backseat where Gracie and Tally were buckling Harper in and then turned his eyes away. He wasn't going to have a good night.

Gracie smiled as they finished buckling in both babies. "Perfect," she said. "Safe, sound and ready for adventures." She looked up at Tally and then over at Zane, who was no longer looking at them. "Alright, so we'll meet you at the restaurant, then?" she asked lightly, not noticing anything different happening. She walked around to the other side of the car and got into the passenger seat beside Monte, turning around to look back at her girls, making sure that she could get back to them, need be.
Tally closed the back door and walked with Zane over to the car. She licked her lips and glanced at Gracie to make sure that she couldn't see. "Alright, what's going on? You're being weird..." She'd noticed them disappear into the other room, while Gracie was too naive to think anything of it, but Tally wasn't. She noticed things, especially when Zane started acting differently.

Zane frowned and glanced at the tail lights of Monte's car, he looked at Tally again and opened the car door and got in. Tally might trust a closed door, but Zane need to be in the car to feel like the coast was clear. He waited for her to get in and started the engine for good measure. But even then he wasn't sure if he wanted to share. He bit his lip hard and then sighed. "Monte has a thing for Gracie." He didn't know if he needed to elaborate. "He's drooling." He pulled out of the driveway and turned the car in the direction of Palmer's.
"He's not like Avery." Zane added, just in case Tally didn't already know. "He's not above moving in on her while she's vulnerable and alone. Did you hear what he did to Avery when they lived in New Orleans? Avery had a reputation without ever having done anything with any girl before Gracie." He looked in his rear view mirror to see if Monte was following. "I like the guy, but I don't trust him. Maybe Gracie is strong enough and smart enough to see what's going on, but perhaps not. No offense to your sister, I love her like I love Tess. And Avery is my best friend, I don't want to see him screwed over. Especially when he's unaware and helpless. You know? But I don't know what to do about him. Devyn and Harper are his nieces and Avery wants Monte in their lives."

Tally furrowed her brow and nodded, she'd noticed too, she was just hoping she was imagining things. She shook her head lightly, "I don't know, I mean, Gracie can be a ditz, but I don't think she'd ever do anything like that. I mean, not again." She shook her head lightly, she wasn't sure if he knew about the day she'd found them all three together. She sighed lightly and listened to what her boyfriend was saying.
"I knew about that, Gracie thought it was funny so she told me..." She shook her head lightly and then looked over at Zane. "You don't think she'd fall for that do you? I just--I can't see her hurting him like that." She shook her head lightly again. "I mean, she knows what it feels like to think you've been cheated on, to be cheated on." She thought about it, though, and the more she thought about it, the more she thought that her twin just might fall for things that Monte did, just because he was the closest thing that she had to having Avery in her arms. "This is so bad..."

Zane ran a hand through his hair and glanced in the mirror again to check on Monte and Gracie in the car behind him. He couldn't physically see either of them and he obviously had no way of hearing any conversations, but he was silently hoping, Monte was taking Zane's threat seriously and minding his behavior. "I'm at a loss, I can only hope that the next six months go by fast and that there will be little incidents. I know Avery and maybe even Gracie want Monte to be a part of the girl's lives, but maybe him disappearing off the face of the earth to do his own thing would be healthier than having him around." He slammed his hand down on top of the steering wheel and sighed. "I told him if he messes them up I'd make him wish he had left." He glanced at her. "I wasn't kidding. I don't want to get into trouble again, I denounced that part of my life, but Gracie and Avery and those girl's deserve to live happily ever after, and I guess it's the protector in me that feels that I need to step in and do whatever it takes to make sure they and the other's that I love are treated fairly." He frowned, he knew it wouldn't be right to Tally if he got himself into major trouble again, but he didn't know what else he could do, if it came down to it.

Tally nodded, listening to what he had to say, she had learned that with Zane it was better to let him finish and then state her opinion rather than interject the opinions randomly. She nodded. She got what he was saying and definitely believed that Monte would try to get with Gracie, but she knew that Gracie would t do anything. She didn't have the heart to. She hadn't told Zane what had happened between Monte, Avery and Gracie the night she'd gone home to a naked Monte in the living room. Maybe she should now, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Gracelyn would be so embarrassed if anyone else found out. "I know what you mean, but Gracie won't do that to him. She won't do that to those little girls. She's fully faithful to Avery."

Zane pulled into the diner and turned the car off, watching Monte pull into the spot next to him. "Hopefully I scared him enough to keep him straight, I'd hate to have to kick his ass and get myself in trouble." He leaned over and kissed Tally on the cheek. "Ready to do this?"
Monte put the car into park and immediately got out of the car, he opened the door behind him and started unbuckling one of the girls. "Hey beautiful girl, you ready for your first outing?" He smiled at the little girl as she blinked sleepily up at him. "Of course you're going to sleep the entire time, huh?"

Tally nodded. She wanted to see Gracie happy with the girls and Avery as much as he did, if not more. The difference being, she wasn't going to kick Monte's ass if he got in the way of that. She figured if Gracie did anything too stupid she could take care of it and fix it. However, she wasn't sure if she actually believed her own thought. She sighed lightly and then smiled at her boyfriend. She knew he was trying to do the right thing, and maybe he was doing the right thing, but she wasn't sure.
Gracie got up and moved to unbuckle the other twin. She smiled at her and shook her head lightly, "You are too pretty." The baby stuck her tongue out, as if investigating it. Gracelyn just smiled again, "Are you gonna make faces at me again, Harp?" she asked with a small giggle, loving these little girls more and more every day.
