Amaya nodded in agreement, three did sound like a good number. She herself wasn't even sure if she wanted a big family. The fact that she'd grown up in such a large family had given her that experience already. At his question, Amaya offered a tiny shrug. "I dunno. I was adopted as a baby, so I don't really know my biological family. I guess it's pretty cool, getting to grow up in a house with people from all sorts of backgrounds and places. It almost feels like I was adopted at all, because of how close and accepting everyone is."

Shen listened in interest, truly curious about it. He had had a friend back in China that, by accident, he found out was adopted, but it was normally hush-hush in Asia in general, and when it did happen, it was normally just between family members. "That seems really cool." He concluded, trying to imagine how his life would've been different had he been adopted by another family. Would he have still been bullied in school? Would he have ever learned Wushu (which consequently got him to have a run in with a pretty girl)? "Were you ever teased about it?" He asked her, still looking like a curious child.

"I wasn't." Amaya shook her head lightly. "A few of my siblings were, especially the more quiet ones." She flashed him a smile. "I'm not very quiet, and I tend to fight back. I have gotten in quite a few fights, but I wasn't teased. At least, not to my face." Amaya was pretty sure people talked about her behind her back, not only about being adopted but because of how tom-boyish she was, but she didn't let that get to her. She smiled at his expression - it was rather cute - and then looked around the room. It didn't look like she would be getting any more practice in today, but she didn't feel like leaving either. She found she was content to just sit there a talk, something she never felt, as she was always active.

Shen listened carefully, not realizing his English was as good as his listening was suggesting. He smiled, "Oh... I think it might be different here than in China... Teasing, I mean..." He muttered, again seeming more to be thinking out loud rather than speaking. He curled up his legs and wrapped his arms around them, resting his head on his knees, then giving Amaya a small smile. "Did you have plans for today?" He asked her curiously.

"How so?" Amaya asked, tilting her head a bit. She smiled back at him before shaking her head lightly. "Nah, I only planned on coming here. I kinda just go where I feel like. How about you? Did you have plans?"

Shen blinked, muttering a small "hmm?" before realizing what she was asking about. "Oh just... in China, you know when you're getting talked about. They'll say it right in your face and... it tends to be um... ah, I don't know the word in English..." He admittedly, becoming shy again. "like..." He began, then motioned as if he was pushing someone else. "Using hands and things." He explained (He's trying to say physical). After trying to demonstrate, he shrugged, "No, no plans." He told her simply.

Amaya smiled a bit, chuckling lightly. "Bullying?" She asked after he finished trying to explain. "I know what you're mean. We call it bullying here, it goes way beyond teasing. A few of my siblings were bullied before some of my older brothers got to them." She grinned then, standing up and holding out her hand. "Let's go for a walk."

Shen nodded, seeming mesmerized by the hand she held up after she stood up. After a couple seconds, he smiled up at her, grabbing her hand and standing up next to her. "A walk sounds nice." He told her softly, putting his hands into his pockets.

Gathering her stuff, Amaya turned to Shen with a smile, slinging her bag over her shoulder. "Ready?" She led the way out of the Fitness Center and in a random direction. No destination had really been set though. "Have you been here long?" Amaya asked, looking over at him.

Shen gathered his stuff and nodded as Amaya asked if he was ready. He walked out next to her, trying to think of exactly how long they had been in Riverside. "Um... About a week, I think." He told her. His new-ness was emphasized by his interest in everything around them.

"Only a week? Gosh, you're brand new then, huh?" Amaya smiled at his curiosity of their surroundings. "If you see anywhere you'd like to stop, feel free to tell me. I've been here for almost a year, but I still don't know everywhere yet."

Shen nodded, still looking around. He looked at some signs curiously, trying to figure out what they meant. "Even though it's a city, it seems like everything is more stretched out here." He commented, emphasizing his point by stretching out his arms a little, looking mostly at the streets.

"Are the streets smaller where you're from?....China, right?" Amaya asked, looking around. She smiled at his gesturing, nodding a bit. "Not all streets are like this. Some are smaller, some are even bigger. Depends on where you go." She shrugged lightly, sticking her hands in her back pockets and looking around again before settling her gaze on him. "See anywhere you'd like to stop yet or you wanna keep walking?"

Shen nodded in confirmation, then smiled, "Some streets are wider in China, too, but I feel like Riverside has um..." He gathered his thoughts together to make sure the English was right, "such a... small town feel with big city streets." He concluded with a small chuckle. He was going to say he hadn't seen anything yet, but then he noticed a bakery on the corner they were coming up to. "Oh! Right there. Uh... Do bakerys here have cake?" He asked her curiously.

"Oooh, I see. Yeah, it does kinda seem that way, huh?" Amaya titled her head a bit, as if that would help her see the streets and city better. "I wonder why it's like that..." At his declaration, Amaya turned to see what he was referring to. "Yeah, I think so. Well...they should anyway...Actually," she paused with a small laugh. "I've never actually been in a bakery. Shall we go in and see what they have? I'm kinda curious too. And, I hear they smell yummy."
