Monte smirked. "I just graduated, barely graduated I should say, but I'm glad it's over, the only thing I'm going to miss is the consistency. Right now isn't so bad because it's summer so it just feels like normal, but in the fall, I don't know what I'm going to do." He glanced at her. "I don't even know if I'm going to even stay in town." He bit his lip. "I only know what I'm going to be doing for the next six months and then..." He shrugged. "I don't know, it's all uncertain."

"Lucky." Amaya said, running a hand through her hair. "I wish I could be done with high school, though I can't say for sure if I'm ready for college." She stuck her hands in her back pockets, not quite sure what to say to his next few statements. She licked her lips, frowning a bit. "What are you doing for the next six months?" She asked finally.

"You make good grades?" He asked. "Are you one of those goody goodies?" He didn't think she was the type, but people had a way of surprising him. "I'm taking care of my brother's family." He said, not really sure if he wanted to dive into too many details. "Would you do that for your siblings?"

"I make decent enough grades." She said. "I don't know about goody goody though. I'll probably get into college on a sports scholarship. If not, then I dunno." She shrugged. She looked up at him, biting her lip. "If they absolutely needed me then sure. If not, I would still be there for them and all, but I'd go my own way."

Monte stepped through the gate to the school and made his way toward the baseball field where he could see Garret's truck and his old team mates unloading the back of the pickup. "Are you planning on going to Riverside then?" He hadn't checked any of the sports stats for the university in the town, but mainly because he didn't plan on staying in town. "What if they wanted you're help, but didn't need it? Would you give up on any plans you might have to help them out?"

"I guess." Amaya shrugged. "I can't really afford to go anywhere else unless I get a full ride scholarship somewhere." She looked over at the people unloading a truck, and then back up at Monte. "I dunno. I don't see why I would stay if they didn't need me. If they wanted me, I'm sure they could deal with me not being there physically, you know? I mean, I'd still be there for them and all, but I wouldn't be there twenty-four seven. I have a life too."

She had a good point, he had a life too, but he still wasn't certain of his final decision to stay or go. "Well thanks for that." He said. "This is Garret..." He motioned to the guy standing in the back of the pickup tossing out the equipment. "He's a real pain in my ass, but we manage to stay civil enough right?" Garret tossed a baseball at Monte, who caught it and tipped it over to Amaya. "That guy over there is Zane and that guy over there is Grady." He turned his body back facing Amaya. "And this is Amaya, I take it Lucas was busy?" Grady took a baseball bat from Garret and tucked it under his arm. "Couldn't get him on the phone, but I talked Atticus into coming and Collins and Mara decided to join us too, they'll be here soon, Mara needed to change." Monte did the quick adding in his head. "That's four on each team. Grady how about you and Amaya be captains." He winked at Amaya. "You up for it?"

"You're...welcome?" She wasn't quite sure why he was thanking her, but she shrugged it off and bit her lip as he started introducing her to people. She caught the ball passed to her, frowning a bit at the fact that he didn't give her some sort of warning. She didn't say anything though. She looked up at him in surprise. "Uh...I guess?" She didn't really know what being a captain meant in baseball, but she didn't want to seem weak or anything in front of his friends. He totally did this on purpose.

Monte paid no mind to the frown on her face when he passed the ball to her, but picked up on the uneasiness when asked to be the captain. "You won't have to make any decisions except who you want on your team. Grady will go easy on you, he won't pick all the good players right off." He glanced at Garret who was smirking. "Garret would, which is why he can't be a captain on a pick me up game. Do you know the basics of baseball?" He asked, hoping she wasn't completely oblivious to the game."

"I suppose." She sighed. She'd watched baseball enough to know that all you needed to do was hit the ball and run around the bases til you got to home. Seemed simple enough to her. Nodding at his question, she absently tossed the ball from on hand to the other, waiting for more instruction.

Monte gave Amaya a look, he had no idea what I suppose meant, where exactly was she on the understanding level of baseball with 'I suppose.' He let it go, claimed a bag of gloves from Garret and walked over to the baseball diamond. "You want to try catching a ball or two while we wait for the girls and Atticus to get here? I can't promise I'll be on your team unless you pick me." He grinned, he had no idea if she would pick him, but past experience with girls, they usually picked who ever they came with to the field.

Amaya simply nodded at his question, following him to the diamond and stood with her legs slightly apart. She wasn't sure if she wanted to pick him for her team, but figured she probably should since she didn't know any of the other people and he was the only one familiar to her. On the other hand, having him on the other team might be interesting. She wasn't sure. Sighing, she lifted her arms above her head and stretching.

Monte dropped the bag when he saw her stretching and did the same. Usually it was his brother who would encourage the stretching and he wouldn't normally initiate the stretching himself and if he refused he'd get a lecture, Amaya seemed the same type, the one who would lecture until his ears started to bleed. The only difference this time, he wasn't going to stop until after she did, whereas with Avery he'd simply stop after a few minutes, which in Avery's mind was still inadequate, but would help at least a little in the big scheme of things.

Amaya spread her legs a bit wider, bending at the waist and placing her hands on her knees, stretching her back. She smiled a bit when she noticed Monte starting to stretch as well. That wasn't what she was going for, but oh well. She stood, stretching her arms in front of her before dropping them and looking over at Monte.

Monte did the bare minimum in each stretch and half started to wonder when she would quit. "Do you stretch this long every time? Like what about when you were climbing the tree in the park, did you stretch then too?" He thought maybe she'd finished stretching when she dropped her arms and looked over at him.
