Liesl made a slightly offended face and then looked away from him at his comment, but it didn't last long, she looked back and smiled. "God, if Bean comes out looking just like you, I'll be a happy, happy woman." She was serious. The doctor came back inside and proceeded with the examination, he stopped and called in the sonogram technician and Liesl grinned up at Brody as she spread the blue lubricant on her belly. "Well you staying to see or you getting out of here?" She asked.

Brody hesistated at her side, then shook his head. "I don't think I can stay in here, I know I'll cheat. Besides, I don't know what I'm looking at other than Bean's giant head right? It's not like I haven't heard the heart beat already."
Before he realised what he was doing, he smoothed her hair away from her face and kissed her forehead. He stood back up, shocked. "Uh...sorry. I um..I'll just.. Call me back in when you're done."
Brody turned on his heel quickly, retreating from an all of a sudden very strange and confusing environment. What the crap did I just do?

Liesl waited semi-impatiently for him to make up his mind and then rolled her eyes when he'd made up his mind. But all impatience left her as he did the unexpected. She bit her bottom lip as he walked out and chewed on the inside of her mouth as the door closed. She turned back to the technician and only half listened to what she was telling her. Yeah, she'd seen Bean's legs, arms, fingers, head, all that amazing stuff, but she simply wanted to know what Bean was. So as the technician continued to show the parts of the baby that she'd seen before she contemplated the kiss and the affectionate behavior he'd issued her.
Finally, the technician said a word that drew her back in. Boy. "Well he's going to be disappointed." The technician chuckled and snapped a few pictures for her, but Liesl wasn't amused at all, she wanted a boy, but Brody had wanted a girl. She knew she shouldn't have these horrid thoughts, but she was partially concerned he'd be less impressed with her if he found out. She knew it was his body that determined the actual gender, but she still felt like she was to blame. She wiped the lubricant off her stomach and waited for him to come back in, there wasn't much left for the doctor to tell them.

Brody stood out in the hallway, bouncing on the balls of his feet. No matter how many times he went over what just happened in his head, he couldn't work out whether he'd decided to, or if his body had just done it on his own.
He started as the door opened, and realised that they'd finished looking at Bean. Walking through the door, he smiled at Liesl awkwardly, fighting the urge to ask her which it was. "All healthy? Everything good?"

Liesl slid into an introverted manner, something that wasn't her, but she was simply depressed. She nodded and as the doctor announced that their baby was perfectly healthy, all ten fingers and toes, development right on track, she got off the table and slid her jeans on under the gown. She turned her back to Brody and pulled the gown off and tugged her shirt back on. The doctor explained what she should continue to do and what she might expect and then told her he wouldn't need to see her for a while. She nodded at this too and ducked out of the examination room and started straight through the office to the door and out to his car.

Brody cursed silently at the expression on Liesl's face, then realised he should be listening as the doctor explained what to expect in the coming months. As Liesl left, he hurriedly thanked the doctor before hurrying after her out to the car.
Touching her on the shoulder, he frowned lightly. "Hey. What happened in there? Should I have stayed? Are you ok?"

She turned when he touched her shoulder, but didn't look up. "Nothing, everything is fine." She wasn't very convincing. "I can't tell you what's wrong without exposing what I know and I can't tell you what's right without you realizing what was so wrong with what you did." She raised her hands and dropped them quickly. "I liked it, everything. I liked you putting your arm around me in the waiting room. I liked you smelling my hair, you helping me up, you staring at my body in the examination room. I liked you moving my hair out of the way and I loved your lips against my forehead. You know what I hate? I hate that you keep doing it too me." She started to cry. "I hate that you keep picking Kylie over me. I hate that I love you so much. I hate that you love me. I hate that I can't go more than an hour without arguing with you." She wiped at her face hard. "I just want to be yours, Brody, that's it."

Brody stood silently and let her unleash everything she was feeling. He was greatly relieved that there wasn't anything wrong with Bean, but he felt another part of his heart shatter as he watched her fall to pieces in front of him. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around her tightly, holding her head against his chest. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I wish I could snap my fingers and change things, make things perfect."
He kissed the top of her head, wracking his brains to think of anything he could do to cheer her up. "If you could do anything right now, what would you want to do?"

You could, you could do it Brody, but you won't, you won't leave Kylie hanging, you're just too nice to her to do that, and so unintentionally cruel. She didn't fight his embrace, there was no point fighting him or trying to push away, she wanted him right there where he was and if she had to miserable when he let go and returned to Kylie, then she'd do it for a few seconds of bliss. She shook her head as he asked her what she wanted to do if she could do anything. She couldn't rightly tell him that she was hornier than Hugh Hefner and all she wanted to do was fuck him, because that would just be more chaos than she needed.

Brody closed his eyes wearily as she shook her head as he held her close. Resting his chin on the top of her head, he sighed deeply. "Please. Even if it's something small. There must be something that I can do for you. Even if it's just picking something up from the shops that you want. Something yummy, or a dvd you haven't seen. Anything, I'll do it."
Pulling back, he tilted her chin up so he could see her face. He ran his thumb over her cheek and the corners of his mouth pulled down. "I'm glad though...that you finally let me see you cry. I know that sounds weird..but thankyou."

Liesl put her face in his chest and shook her head. "I want you." She whispered, the sound muted in his shirt. She turned her face so her next words would be audible. "You know when we were texting back and forth and I made you mad and you came over then you fell asleep with me?" She raised her eyebrows and then lowered her eyes to his lips. "I want to be in your arms, is that too much?" She asked. She didn't tilt her head back down when he lifted it and brushed his thumb over her cheek, but she didn't say anything about her crying and him seeing it, she hated that he'd witnessed it. She looked away from his eyes and focused on the space immediately to the left of his left ear, she wanted to kiss him.

Brody shook his head slowly. "I don't think that's too much. It's not really any different to now, is it? It's just slightly more comfortable and warm.."
He smiled crookedly, trying once more to make her smile. "We can do that. I honestly don't think it'll be a problem. We can just veg out and watch mindless tv. Bean needs some white noise right? It's just training her for when she's a teenager."
He reluctantly let go of her and moved to unlock the car door. "Come on. We can pick up yummy food since you missed out on your greasy burger before."

Liesl almost corrected him, but she caught herself. She didn't know if she wanted to pick up anything to eat, if her mom was home, she wasn't going to let her partake in a greasy pepperoni pizza or T.G.I.F. baked potato bites, or anything that wasn't homemade. She didn't want to go through that fight with her mom tonight. She got into the car after he unlocked it and secured herself. "I just want to go home, no food or anything, I'll eat something at home."

Brody nodded and climbed into his car. "Ok, no worries. Let me know if you change your mind though and I'll go get it." Starting the engine, he glanced over and smiled once more. "So I was thinking we should go shopping sometime soon. You know, for random baby stuff."
Pulling out of the car park, he sighed dramatically. "I miss my bike. Do I seem less tough without it?" He glanced over at her again, an expression of mock sadness on his face. "I feel like less of a man."

Liesl nodded. "If you want we can go do that tomorrow." She didn't have anything to do, she never had anything to do. "Unless you're busy tomorrow." Of course she didn't know what time frame he was thinking about or if his time slot for tomorrow would be filled with Kylie things. Honestly, she wasn't concerned about when they went, she just wanted to get home and climb into her warm bed.
"I don't think you're any less tough without it." She grinned at him. "You weren't really that tough to begin with." She laughed. "Though you're all man and I can attest to that, so no, you aren't any less of a man without it. I'm happy you've got a car." She laughed. "I can't imagine riding on the back of your bike with my big pregnant belly. I'd be hanging off the edge of it."
