Brody smiled, a spring in his step as he made his way up to Liesl's front door. The months seemed to be moving faster now, and Liesl was into her second trimester. He'd done a lot of reading since she'd told him they were having a baby, and he was excited to tell her all the things Bean was doing.
Knocking on the door, he ran his fingers through his hair quickly. He'd taken a half day off work for the doctor's visit, and to take her out to lunch before hand, so he hadn't had time to change out of his work clothes, let alone have a shower and scrub up properly, and he hoped she wouldn't be upset by his rather scruffy appearance. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, he shoved his hands in his pockets to stop himself fidgeting and waited almost patiently.

Liesl stood behind the door watching him bounce and fidget and she grinned, he was just too cute for words. She pulled the door open, grin still on her lips and closed the door behind her. "What an attractive uniform." She said, pinching the fabric with two of her fingers and lifting it off his shoulder a little. "You look excited." She said, releasing his shirt and lacing her fingers with his. "You do know you'll be spending the majority of this appointment in the waiting room right?" She rolled her eyes, she was excited, she wanted to know if she was caring a boy or a girl and she thought it was silly that he didn't want to know.

Brody flushed slightly, and ran his fingers through his hair again. "Sorry. This is what they make you wear. For safety and stuff I guess. I forgot to bring a change of clothes when I left this morning."
He shrugged lightly, not even the fact that he'd be standing outside made him feel any less excited. "It's ok, cause I get to see Bean. Once I have and I've heard her heartbeat, I'll go outside and wait. Are you really going to find out? Don't you want it to be a surprise?" He smiled at the feel of her smaller hand intwined in his and gave it a small squeeze. "So where do you want to go to lunch?"

Liesl squeezed his hand. "It's alright, you don't have to apologize for their lack of fashion sense." She smiled and then nodded. "Oh yes, I'm already dying to know, I couldn't wait another five months to know. I want to start picking up little things for Bean and not knowing is just frustrating." She let his hand go as they reached his car. "I think we feel like having a burger and fries." She said running her hand over her belly. "My mom has been stuck on the salads, veggies, and minimal fats and sugars and we just want them so bad, don't we Bean?" She looked up at Brody and grinned.

Brody nodded and headed towards the car. "Palmers it is then. I can't bear to say no to Bean, if Bean wants crappy food, she'll get it." He opened the passenger side door for Liesl to climb in, then moved towards his own. Sliding into his seat, he fastened his seatbelt and started the engine. "So I was going through all the stuff Danian bought last night. There's bottles and dummies and nappies. And some of it is newborn, but some is for 6 months as well. So we're pretty well stocked already." He grinned sheepishly and reached into the back seat. "I bought this. I dunno if you like it or not but I thought it was really cute."

Liesl stared at him and raised her eyebrows. She was going to have to carry around an Australian phrase book or something to try and keep up with him. "I'm assuming that's diapers and pacifiers?" She paused before continuing. "I think it's great that we already have some things for Bean." She took the little yellow outfit from him and smiled. "Cute, for a girl of course." She fingered the flowers and the little green stems. "My mom had a friend in high school who got pregnant her second year in college and they expected the baby to be really big and she came out so small they had to go out and buy tiny little clothes and diapers, so it's great that we have both small and big, just in case." She smiled and folded the outfit in her lap. "Would you be disappointed if it were a boy?"

Brody thought about the question for a minute, his brow furrowing. "No I don't think so. But I'm not sure I'd know how to be a good dad to a boy. Cause I'd feel like a hypocrite telling him not to smoke, or sleep with girls you know? Whereas if Bean is a girl, it's well within my right to tell her she shouldn't sleep around."
He grinned sheepishly and ran his hand through his hair. "So no, I don't think I'd be disappointed if we had a boy. Just a little more worried I guess."
As they pulled into the diner car park, he looked over at her and raised an eyebrow. "Have you thought about names yet? I was thinking I like Annaliese for a girl, or maybe Hayden for a boy... you know..after my brother?"

Liesl laughed. "I think we'd have more to worry about with a little girl." She pointed at her belly. "I mean a girl is going to suffer more than the guy ever would." She raised her eyebrow at him and then relaxed. "I like Hayden for a boy, but I also like the name Colson for a boy." She wasn't sure it would be a good thing to name their son after his deceased brother, might bring back too many memories. "As for a girl I like Zoe." She looked out the window. "Anyway we still have five months to decide on a name."

Brody laughed softly and nodded his head. "Sure, that's true. We do have a bit more time I guess. I'm getting really excited though. Come on. Let's go get something greasy for Bean."
Climbing out of the car, he stood waiting for Liesl to join him. "You know, I'm really liking work so far. I mean, it's hard but it's really hands on. And even though I'm just out of school and new they don't treat me with kid gloves."

Liesl laughed and moved Brody's hand to her stomach where Bean was kicking. "I think somebody heard you and is excited." She was so happy that she could feel their baby kicking and moving and maybe even responding to their voices. "You should talk to Bean more." She took his hand away as Bean stopped, but continued to hold his hand. "I'm glad to hear you're enjoying work and I'm also happy to hear they aren't treating you with kid gloves." Maybe you'll be more responsible this way.

Brody ginned as he felt his baby kick beneath his hand. As Liesl kept hold of his hand, he rubbed the back of his neck with the other. Grining goofily he nodded. "Sure I guess I can do that. Maybe I can record a tape or something so you can play it when I'm not around as well. I could sing maybe."
Walking towards the diner, he sighed. "Yeah, I've been in trouble already at work for zoning out and stuff. But I told them why I was spaced and they were really cool about it. They've even paid me for the whole day today even though I'm not going back after the doctor today."

Liesl nodded. "You could do that, but I was thinking it would be better for you to be there in person, that way I can just play Mozart when you aren't around so our baby will be brilliant." She laughed and then went quiet as he mentioned he'd been in trouble at work already. She was about to scold him, tell him to knock off the kid crap so he wouldn't get fired from his new job before the baby even arrived, but she held her tongue, he'd probably just flare up at that and they didn't need anymore confrontation. "That's good that they were understanding and that they'll pay you for a full day without you actually being there." She pulled the door to the diner open and started through the door, not even giving him the chance to be a gentleman. "I already know what I want, I want a double cheeseburger with bacon, doesn't that sound amazing Bean? Ooooh and cheese covered fries." She giggled and sat herself in a booth.

Brody slid into the booth laughing, and waited for the waitress to arrive at the table. "Hey there. Uh, one double cheeseburger with bacon, cheese covered fries, and uh..let's see.." He glanced at the menu briefly before looking up at the waitress. "One plain hamburger and a coke."
Glancing at Liesl, he smiled warmly. "What did you want to drink?"

"Water, puh-lease." She said though she wasn't actually looking at the waitress. "What's with the plain burger?" She asked. "Can you change the double cheese burger to a single, hold the bacon and make the lame plain burger a cheeseburger, k." She gave Brody a weird look then reclined in the booth as best as she could, not that it was incredibly hard, she was small enough. "Is it a price thing?" She asked, walking two of her fingers down his arm, her eyes following them, but turning quickly to look at him for his answer. "I can pay for my own meal you know." Her eyes rolled back to follow her fingers, which were now strolling down his leg. "I'm not going to freak on you if you have limited funds, you told me you took Kylie out." Her fingers were no longer walking up or down any of his limbs, but skipping on her belly. "Coble's too I bet."

Brody watched as her fingers wandered, and shook his head lightly. "No, it's not a price thing. It's an I wanted a plain burger thing." Frowning slightly, he took her hand from her stomach and held it gently. "Yeah, I took her to Cobles. We could have gone there today, but you wanted greasy food, so we came here. If I ask you to come to lunch, there's no way I'm making you pay for your own food. That's just..." Sighing, he let her hand go, and shrugged. "I don't know what it is exactly, but I know I don't like it, and won't do it."
